Badges, Stars, and Awards

Cubs are awarded badges, stars, and awards based on merit. Badges cover subjects such as being a team player, taking care of animals, knowing about nature and the environment, etc. Stars cover a number of related subjects, and awards are special badges that require extra work.

We normally try to set up a program to allow cubs to earn two stars and some badges over the course of the year. Cubs are also encouraged to do their own independent work to earn badges. Cubs can bring in projects to show their leaders their badge work. You can help your Cub earn extra badges by encouraging them to read the Cub Book and find activities they can participate in and enjoy. The Cub Book has six badge related sections dealing with Nature, the Outdoors, Creative Expression, Health and Fitness, Home and Community, and Canada and the World. Each section has simple projects a Cub can do independently.
